Bugs: Access 2000: Differences between Jet Compact and Access Compact

Author(s)
Dev Ashish

Due to changes in the way the VBA Project and Access objects are stored in Access 2000, a call to Jet's CompactDatabase method may not reclaim all the space marked as deleted; whereas a Compact call issued via any one of the following methods will handle all cases (as before).

  1. Access 2000 UI's "Compact and Repair Database" menu item,
  2. Either the /compact or /repair command line flags for msaccess.exe,
  3. The TSI SOON add-in,
  4. The "Compact on Close" functionality added to Access 2000.
